Core Banking System
Awash International Bank S.C has started using the Bankmaster/Branchpower CORE banking application since October 1st 2001. It is a centralized system and handles all retail banking operations ( Savings, time deposits, loans, demand deposits, subsidiary ledger, general Ledger, etc ).
The core banking application is called Bankmaster LAN and the implemented version is Version 7. Forty one branches and International Banking department use Branchpower application (Ver 7.2) to interface with the core at the data center. The total solution (Bankmaster LAN and Branchpower) is licensed from Misys International Financial Systems Ltd.
BM interface messages are not ISO 8583 standard. The messaging standard within and/or between Bankmaster modules is proprietary. However despite this, Bankmaster provide the facility of interfacing with ISO 8583 message standard complaint ATM / Card system through changes at the ATM / Card system side. This type of interface has already been done for Misys customers and is in production use since couple of years. Many of Misys customers have also successfully interfaced their SMS Banking solution / Internet Banking (e-Banking) solution with Bankmaster using Bankmaster's existing TPS route.
Currently, the bank has licensed a peripheral application called BM+ from Misys. The BM+ application seamlessly interfaces with the core and it also accommodates number of modules that provide real time interface with SWIFT alliance software, ISO 8583 and XML messaging format.
